ART BY FILIATION, COLOR AS ONE EVIDENCE

Comoy-Nicolessi

THE ARTS INHERITED, COLOUR AS A NATURAL CHOICE….

Generations follow one another and remain alike, all doctors or artists. Comoy-Nicolessi was born Marie-Anne Comoy in Paris, the daughter of a singer and niece of pianists.

She grew up with her grandmother, surrounded by the works of her grandfather, Omer Bouchery, painter, engraver and illustrator. A Knight of the Legion of Honor and Prix de Rome for engraving in 1912.

From early childhood, she has fed off this artistic environment and has immersed herself in the sounds, paintings and engravings which surrounded and stimulated her. Painting has since come as the most natural way for her to express her art.

Self-taught, Comoy-Nicolessi wielded the paintbrush from early on in life, trying her hand at various techniques and styles, to finally find her own. Since 2012, she has been refining her work and technique at Martine Coste’s workshop in Toulouse.

Her artistic approach is similar to that of the Fauvism and Expressionism movements. Comoy-Nicolessi, inspired by a similar freedom and energy, paints simple and expressive subjects such as portraits, landscapes, still and city lifes…

Acrylic and watercolor are the answer to the impulsiveness and urgency she feels to express and share her emotions.
